PVN starts strategy for developing hydrogen and offshore wind power projects – On November 18 in Hanoi, Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on building a strategic partnership in 2021 – 2024 years to promote clean and sustainable energy development in Vietnam, as well as support PVN to achieve the green energy transition goal. Specifically, the two sides will cooperate in strategy, a roadmap for green energy transition, carbon capture, use and storage; developing hydrogen industry and offshore wind power projects. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Andrew Jeffries – ADB Country Director for Vietnam shared that establishing a partnership to coordinate and cooperate in the activities is interesting for both sides. As a multilateral financial institution and a catalyst organization for global and regional climate funds, ADB commits to support PVN through policy, technical consultations, investment funds, as well as to mobilize co-finance from other financial sources. On behalf of the PVN leaders, Mr. Pham Tien Dung – Deputy General Director of the group expressed his pleasure that PVN is the first unit to establish a partnership with ADB for developing clean and sustainable energy in Vietnam. Mr. Dung […]
Energy storage is an effective solution for efficiency improvement of REPs in Vietnam – On November 24, 2021, with the support of the State central management agencies, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), the Office of the National Steering Committee for Electricity Development (ONEDSC), the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERAV), the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), a number of Vietnamese and international organizations and enterprises… The Scientific Council of Vietnam Energy Magazine will organize a workshop on “Application of the energy storage systems and technologies for efficiency improvement of the renewable energy (RE) projects in Vietnam”. Scientific conference on: “Application of energy storage system and technology to improve efficiency for renewable energy projects in Vietnam”. The workshop aims to find solutions and proposals to remove difficulties and obstacles in capital mobilization, construction investment in construction and efficient operation for the current wind and solar power projects. At the same time, the participants of the workshop would propose the mechanisms and solutions to overcome the problems for maximizing the power generation (by investment solutions in the energy storage equipment, technology and power grid stabilization) of RE projects and to resolve technical problems of Vietnam’s power system. In recent time, the strong development of wind and solar power […]
BCG Energy and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy cooperate for WPD in Vietnam – Within the framework of the 26th Conference of the participates in the Framework Convention of United Nations on Climate Change (COP26) taking place in the United Kingdom, under the witness of Vietnamese Prime Minister (PM) Pham Minh Chinh, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (RE) and BCG Energy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Siemens Gamesa RE providing BCG Energy with equipment and technical solutions for wind power development in Vietnam. Siemens Gamesa RE is a member of Siemens Group (Germany) – the world’s largest supplier of wind power and renewable energy technology and equipment. According to the signed agreement, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy will be the supplier of equipment and technical solutions for BCG Energy to implement the roadmap for wind power development with a capacity more than 500 MW and an investment of about 400 million USD. BCG Energy is one of the renewable energy pioneer – developers in Vietnam. Today, the total capacity of BCG Energy solar power projects (including ground and rooftop solar power projects) in operation in Vietnam is 577.1 MW. BCG Energy expects to develop wind power projects in Vietnam with a […]
Son Ha – Dang Gia provide wind service in Long An international Port With the handshake with Dang Gia, Long An International Port becomes the receiving place of important wind power equipment and materials for the West. Dang Gia Corp, a contractor for transportation and installation of large power projects such as B&T Quang Binh, Cau Dat, Kosy … has just had a strategic cooperation with Long An International Port. Accordingly, the reception of super-heavy equipment (wind turbines, gas tanks …), cargo loading and unloading and construction of electric piles at sea will be implemented here. According to Dang Gia, this choice is due to the port’s large yard area suitable for erection. It also has experience in exploiting super-sized and super-important items that require complicated cargo handling process; Convenient waterway transportation to key southern wind power centers in Bac Lieu. Mr. Vo Quoc Thang, Chairman of Dong Tam Group, the investor of the project, said that he was promoting the completion of legal procedures for expansion, so that the No. 8 and 9 wharves have a design capacity for construction. can welcome ships up to 100,000 DWT. Currently, the port has an area of 147 hectares, including 7 berths […]
in Vietnam, several wind measurement studies are conducted. Vietnam is considered to have the best wind resources in Southeast Asia, especially in the nearshore/offshore and onshore coastal regions in the south of Vietnam. In these areas yearly average windspeeds of 9 to 10 meters per second are measured. Generally, windspeeds are declining further inland. Renewable energy targets and wind energy Vietnam is a country with a rapidly growing economy together with an increasing energy and electricity demand. To sustain the growing electricity demand, new power plants are being built, especially coal-fired power plants. Besides fossil fuels, hydro power is also an important part of the electricity supply in Vietnam, accounting for 37,3 percent of the total installed capacity. EVN is the single buyer of electricity and holds a monopoly on transmission and distribution. Renewable energy sources are still a very small share in the total electricity production, but ambitious targets have been set by the government. Wind farm development onshore and nearshore A key regulatory instrument for wind power in Vietnam are the Provincial Wind Power Development Plans (PWPDPs). These plans define priority areas for wind power development, for which wind measurement has already been conducted. Specific onshore and nearshore […]
